Custom Agent Templates FAQ

Custom Agent Templates FAQ

Quick answers about Custom Agent Templates, Oktopost Templates, and Your Templates.

Does editing a template change my existing agents?

No. Applying a template creates a snapshot in your Draft agent. Later edits to the template — or deleting it — do not change agents you already created or published from it.

Who can use Custom Agent Templates?

Account admins and owners only. Custom Agent Templates are available from Setup → AI Management → Custom Agents, which requires admin or owner access.

Do templates cost credits?

The template itself does not consume credits. After you publish the agent, its runs consume credits the same way as any Custom Agent — based on the AI Actions in the workflow.

What are Oktopost Templates?

Oktopost Templates are curated by Oktopost and available to every account. They provide proven starting points for common agent workflows. You can apply them but not edit or delete them.

Why do I have to reconnect a credential after applying a template?

Credentials are stripped when a template is promoted to the global Oktopost Templates library. Secret parameters mark where a credential is needed, but you connect your account's credential after apply. See Understanding Template Parameters.

Can I share a template across accounts?

Your Templates are private to your account. Cross-account sharing is only available through Oktopost Templates curated by Oktopost.

Does applying a template overwrite my Draft agent?

Yes. Applying a template replaces the current Draft's content in place. Start from a fresh or empty Draft if you do not want to overwrite existing work. See Start a Custom Agent from a Template.

Can I apply a template to a Published agent?

No. Apply templates to a Draft agent only. Open the agent as a Draft or create a new Draft, apply the template, review, and publish.
