Start a Custom Agent from a Template

Apply a Custom Agent Template to seed a Draft agent with a proven workflow, then review and publish when you are ready.

Before you begin

Open or create a Draft agent at Setup → AI Management → Custom Agents. Applying a template works on Draft agents only.

Applying a template replaces the current Draft's content in place. Start from a fresh or empty Draft if you do not want to overwrite existing work.

Apply a template

Step Action Details
1 Open the Agent Editor Go to Setup → AI Management → Custom Agents and open a Draft agent.
2 Open the gear menu Click the gear icon in the Agent Editor toolbar.
3 Select Use template The template picker opens with Oktopost Templates and Your Templates.
4 Choose a template Browse either group and select the template you want to apply.
5 Fill in parameters Complete every field on the parameter form. See Understanding Template Parameters for field types.
6 Apply the template Confirm to load the template workflow into your Draft agent.
7 Reconnect credentials if prompted If a banner appears after apply, reconnect any credentials the template requires. Credentials are not stored in global templates.
8 Review and publish Inspect the canvas, adjust nodes if needed, then Publish when the agent is ready.
Why this matters
A template gives you a head start — you still own the final agent. Review every node before publishing, especially after applying an Oktopost Template that may start with blank entity values.
