Getting Started with Custom Agent Templates
Custom Agent Templates are reusable, parameterized starting points for building a Custom Agent. Instead of wiring every node from scratch, you apply a template to a Draft agent, fill in the values it asks for, review the canvas, and publish when you are ready. Oktopost provides curated Oktopost Templates for common workflows, and your account can save proven agents as Your Templates for private reuse. Templates help teams move faster, stay consistent, and share best-practice agent designs across admins.
Prerequisites
- Account admin or owner role. Only admins and owners can open Setup → AI Management → Custom Agents and use Custom Agent Templates.
Template groups
When you open the template picker, templates are organized into two groups:
| Group | Description |
|---|---|
| Oktopost Templates | Curated by Oktopost and available to every account. Use them as-is to start common agent workflows. |
| Your Templates | Saved from agents in your account. Visible only to admins and owners in your account. |
Where to find templates
- Go to Setup → AI Management → Custom Agents.
- Open a Draft agent in the Agent Editor, or create a new Draft agent.
- Click the gear menu in the Agent Editor.
- Select Use template.
Why this matters
Templates seed a Draft agent — they do not publish automatically. You always review the canvas and publish when the agent is ready. What happens when you apply a template
Applying a template copies its workflow into your current Draft agent and prompts you for any template parameters. The result is a snapshot: later edits to the template do not change agents you already created from it.
