Creating Bluesky Threads

Bluesky threads let you share longer narratives as a series of connected posts (reply chains). Oktopost allows you to create, schedule, and publish Bluesky threads directly from the Post Editor.

How do I post a thread?

  1. Open the Post Editor from Calendar → New Post.
  2. Select Bluesky as the network.
  3. Select the Bluesky profile you want to publish from.
  4. Write the first post in the thread.
  5. Use the plus button at the bottom of the post console to add the next post in the thread.
  6. Add up to 20 posts to your thread, then post, schedule, or send the entire thread to approvals.
  7. To remove a post from the thread, delete all text and media from the post, then click the red x icon on the right.

Calendar and approvals

  • Thread posts are grouped together on the calendar, similar to X (Twitter) Threads.
  • When approval workflows are enabled, the entire thread is sent for review as one group. Approvers can accept or reject all posts in the thread together.

If a post in a multi-post thread cannot be published due to an error, the entire thread fails. Oktopost displays the specific PDS/API error on the affected post(s).

Reporting on threads

Create a Social BI report of your threads by selecting the Posts or Engagement data source, grouping by Thread, and selecting the metrics you want to measure.

For single-post publishing and media limits, see Publishing to Bluesky.
