Marketo Integration: Interesting Social Moments - Using Trigger Tokens

Create an Interesting Moment in Marketo when a known lead clicks a tracked social link. The moment records the social network and the link to the social post, so that activity is available to the rest of your marketing and sales tools. To build a moment from repeated clicks instead, see Marketo Integration: Interesting Social Moments, which uses Track Social Clicks and web page visits.

Prerequisites

  • Sync Custom Activities turned on for your Marketo integration
  • Access to create and activate a Smart Campaign in Marketo

Create the Smart Campaign

Oktopost logs a Social Link Click activity on the known lead. In the Smart Campaign, use the trigger Clicks on a Social Link.

  1. In Marketo, create a Smart Campaign
  2. On the Smart List tab, add the trigger Clicks on a Social Link
  3. On the Flow tab, add an Interesting Moment step and choose the type your programs already use
  4. In Description, add the social network and the link to the social post with the tokens below
  5. On the Schedule tab, set qualification so each person can run through the flow every time
  6. Activate the Smart Campaign

Example description: Clicked a {{trigger:Network}} post: {{trigger:Post Url}}

Detail Trigger token
Social network {{trigger:Network}}
Link to the social post {{trigger:Post Url}}

Use {{trigger:Network}} and {{trigger:Post Url}}, including the space in Post Url. A token that does not match the field name on the Social Link Click activity stays blank.

Have a known lead click a tracked social link. Open that lead in Marketo and confirm the Interesting Moment shows the network and the post link. The moment is stored on the lead, appears in Marketo Sales Insight, and can be used by other Marketo campaigns.

Activity names for the other social actions are listed in Getting Started with Marketo Integration.
