Target Audiences and News Feed Targeting on Facebook Pages

Facebook Page posts enable companies to tailor content to specific audiences within their follower base.

There are two ways to target users: Target Audiences and News Feed Targeting.

  • Target Audiences: This method is based on location. It allows Pages to direct their posts to people in selected geographical areas.

  • News Feed Targeting: This method allows Pages to target users based on Interests, Gender, Education, and Age. People in these groups are more likely to see the post, while others are less likely, but may still see it.

How to Create a Targeted Post

To create a targeted post in Oktopost simply create a new post, select the Page you want to create the update with, and then click on the Audience button that appears below the message box.

How to set up and use Targeting Presets

If you select a large number of locations or set criteria in the News Feed Targeting option and want to save them for future use, you can use the Preset option at the top of the selection screen.

Simply click "Save As..." after adding your targeting parameters and give it a unique name. You can then select it from the Preset dropdown menu for future posts to automatically reselect all the same targeting parameters.

Target Audience Limitations

  • Each post can include a maximum of 50 locations.
  • Each post can target either countries, cities, or regions, but not a combination of these.
